Aftercare is optional. If you choose it, we take your pet into our care, make every arrangement, and return their ashes to you if that is what you have asked for.
How it works
When you are ready, and not a moment before, we take your pet with us. They travel covered and carried with respect, and we handle the arrangements from there so that your time is spent grieving and remembering rather than making phone calls.
You may also arrange cremation yourself, or take your pet into your own care instead. That is entirely your choice and it changes nothing about the visit.
Practical things to know
- A stretcher travels with us for transport.
- For a larger dog we may need one person to help us reach the vehicle.
- If nobody will be able to help, please tell us when you book so we can plan for it.
- Ashes from a private cremation are returned in about ten days, in an elegant wooden urn.
General cremation
Your pet is cremated alongside other animals. Because they are not separated, ashes are not returned. Many families choose this and keep a paw print, a photograph or a lock of fur instead.
Private cremation
Your pet is cremated on their own. Their ashes are returned to you in about ten days in an elegant wooden urn, so you can keep them, scatter them, or place them somewhere that means something to your family.

Something to hold afterwards.
A paw print keepsake and a memorial certificate are included with every in-home euthanasia visit, whichever aftercare you choose. Many families also want a lock of fur or a photograph, and there is time for both.
These small things matter more than people expect them to. A general cremation returns no ashes, but it does not mean you are left with nothing of them.
Deciding this in advance can bring real peace later.
