Mobile hospice and end of life care for pets, Ladysmith to Campbell River, Vancouver Island.
Services

Care built around comfort, not around a clock.

From pain relief and hospice support through to a peaceful goodbye at home, every H.E.A.R.T. visit is unhurried and comes to your door.

In-home euthanasia

A gentle, unhurried goodbye in the place your pet feels safest, with sedation first so they are deeply asleep before anything else happens. You choose the room, who is present, and how much time you take afterwards.

Quality of life consultation

A full hour together with no euthanasia planned. We examine your pet, talk honestly about what we see, start a first laser session, and leave you with a written plan of care. Many families book this specifically to find out whether it is too soon.

Medications and additional treatments are quoted separately.

Hospice and palliative care

Ongoing comfort care for pets living with arthritis, cancer, kidney disease, heart disease or simple old age. Pain scoring, medication adjustments, appetite and hydration support, and practical changes to the home that make daily life easier.

Follow-up visits from $150 + GST

Delivered by a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in your own living room, where pets settle far more readily than they do on a clinic table.

Who we see

Dogs, cats and the small ones too.

H.E.A.R.T. cares for dogs and cats of every size, and for exotic companions including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets and birds. If you are unsure whether we can help with your particular animal, please phone and ask.

  • Pets with a terminal diagnosis who are still enjoying life
  • Older pets whose arthritis or mobility is limiting their day
  • Pets who are fearful, painful or unsafe to transport to a clinic
  • Families who simply want the goodbye to happen at home

An off-site alternative

Not every family can say goodbye at home. Some are in a rental, a care facility, or a place that will hold a memory they would rather not keep.

For those families there is a dedicated comfort room at Bear’s Buddies and Once Upon a Tail Farm: a quiet, private space with soft seating, warm light and no clinical equipment in sight. Ask about it when you call.

Available from mid-September.

Guidance for the whole family

Part of this work is helping people, not only animals. We talk through what to tell children, whether other pets should be present, how to recognize pain that is easy to miss, and how to prepare for the days after.

Clear, honest conversation is not an add-on here. It is the service.

You can call before you are ready to book.

Many families phone simply to ask what happens, what it costs, or whether it is too soon. That call is welcome, and it is free.
